I need to know how things work.

I’m Hugo. I study design engineering at SDU in Odense, and this semester I’m on exchange at HSLU in Lucerne.

I’ve always been drawn to technical things. If something works, I want to understand why. My parents are both creative, so design was around me long before I had a word for it. Design engineering is where those two sides meet.

01 — How I work

I look for the simplest form that still fully solves the problem.

I take it apart first.For LINAK I opened the motor to learn how its brake was released before I drew anything new.

I prototype early and rough.Cardboard, LEGO, plexiglass. A model that half works teaches me more than a perfect drawing.

I design around what already exists.The Uvision speaker works without changing the projector. Existing products, systems and brands are part of the brief.
02 — Path
Autumn 2026
Exchange at HSLU, LucerneService innovation. A service system with Thermaplan and a sales strategy for Nihito.
2026
Uvigga, after the workshopThe PeePen led to more. Uvigga asked me back, and we held several meetings to work out a collaboration.
2024 – 2028
Integrated Design, SDU OdenseDiplomingeniør in design engineering. Research, mechanisms, prototypes and full product cycles, mostly on real company briefs.
2020 – 2023
HTX Sukkertoppen, CopenhagenTechnical upper secondary. Where I first designed a visual identity, for MULD.
03 — Behind the bar

Before design paid anything, bars did. They taught me to read people fast, stay calm when it’s busy, and keep a team in a good mood.

05 — Outside design

I’m at my best around people.

Family and friends come first. When I’m not working, I’m usually out hiking with our family dog. Right now I’m also training for a half marathon with a group of friends.
